• Philippine Archipelago International Trading Corporation Facilitates Major Urea Fertilizer Donation from People's Republic of China

QUEZON CITY, Metro Manila, Philippines – Philippine Archipelago International Trading Corporation (PAITC) is proud to announce its pivotal role in facilitating the significant donation of 20,000 metric tons of urea fertilizers from the People's Republic of China to the Philippines in 2023. This initiative underscores PAITC's commitment to supporting agricultural productivity and food security in the nation.

Through the dedicated efforts of its Chairperson, Olivia Limpe Aw, PAITC served as a crucial third-party negotiator, bridging communications and discussions that ultimately led to the successful realization of this vital donation.

Beyond its role in the diplomatic facilitation, Philippine Archipelago International Trading Corporation also successfully bid for and meticulously carried out the complex logistics services required for the transfer of the donated fertilizers. This involved the efficient and safe transport of the 400,000 bags of urea fertilizers from Manila North Harbor to the National Food Authority (NFA) warehouse in Valenzuela City, ensuring the timely delivery of these crucial agricultural inputs.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the ceremonial turnover in Valenzuela City, assuring the Chinese government of the Philippines' commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. He thanked the People’s Republic of China for their generosity, stating that these acts reinforce the foundations of trust and mutual benefit between the two nations, especially as the Philippines and China commemorated the 48th year of formal diplomatic relations this month. President Marcos also acknowledged China’s provision of Php 4 million worth of rice assistance to evacuees affected by the Mayon Volcano unrest.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Huang Xilian formally turned over the 20,000 MT of urea fertilizer during the ceremony.

President Marcos highlighted the timeliness of the donation, aligning with the administration's focus on boosting agricultural productivity for food security. The fertilizers will be distributed to approximately 160,000 rice and corn farmers in Regions 1, 2, 3, 4A, and Bicol, covering 200,000 hectares at a rate of two bags per hectare. Distribution will be managed through vouchers issued by local government units (LGUs). This donation was a commitment made during President Marcos' state visit to China in January, where he met with President Xi Jinping to discuss various areas of cooperation, including agriculture.

“We are honored to have played a dual role in this meaningful endeavor,” stated Olivia Limpe Aw, Chairperson of Philippine Archipelago International Trading Corporation. "Our involvement, from negotiation to the critical logistical execution, reflects our dedication to leveraging international partnerships for the benefit of Filipino farmers and the nation's agricultural sector. This donation is a testament to strong bilateral relations and a shared commitment to sustainable development."

PAITC remains steadfast in its mission to contribute to national development through strategic trade and logistical excellence.
